What makes Murphy, NC such a great place to live?
Murphy, NC is a great small town located in Cherokee County with a population of around 27,450 - so what makes this such a desirable area to move to? Sure we’ve got great golf courses, good restaurants and lower taxes and insurance than the “big cities,” but here are a few more reasons to live in the Ranger and Hiwassee Dam communities of Murphy…
Outdoor enthusiasts want to move from the congested larger cities to a simpler, less hectic way of life. Just west of Murphy, NC in the Ranger and Hiwassee Dam communities you can choose from two great Lakes. Surrounded by the Nantahala and Cherokee National Forests, Hiwassee and the adjacent Apalachia Lake serve as a rich habitat for deer, wild turkey, and other animals. Below the Hiwassee Dam, a day-use park on Apalachia Reservoir provides access to boating, fishing, and exploring the reservoir and its tributaries. Hiwassee Lake is exceptionally beautiful and well suited for canoeing, rafting, and learning the basics of whitewater boating. The flow of water in the reservoir comes from deep below the surface and is chilly, even in the summer. Click on Area Lakes for more information on these to lakes and the many others surrounding Cherokee County, NC.
Another reason why more and more younger families want to move to the Murphy, NC areas is the great school systems we have here and offer smallerschools and classes.
